WordPress Maintenance

WordPress maintenance

WordPress maintenance that keeps your site stable, secure and stress-free

Your WordPress site or WooCommerce store should not demand your daily attention. Updates, backups, monitoring, security, small fixes and incident response should be carried out regularly — before a problem appears, not only once the site stops working.

We provide ongoing technical maintenance for WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores. We keep an eye on updates, make backups, monitor the site’s availability, react to errors and help with small changes. As a result you do not have to check plugins yourself, worry about failures, remember about backups or look for a specialist only once the store stops selling.

The effect: your site runs more stably, is more secure, you respond to problems faster, and you can focus on running your business.

  • WordPress + plugin updates (tested)
  • Daily off-site backups
  • 24/7 monitoring with alerts
  • Security and firewall
  • An hours bank for small changes
  • A response SLA of 24h / 4h

Who maintenance is for

  • you have a WordPress site or WooCommerce store and do not want to worry about updates
  • you run a store where every hour of downtime is a real loss of sales
  • you have a team in-house, but no one looks after the technical side of the site
  • your site has gone down or your WordPress has been hacked before
  • plugin updates broke your site and you do not want a repeat
  • you need small changes to the site every week / every month
  • you want contact with an account manager, not just a support email address
  • you care about backups and security without having to check them by hand

What problems does ongoing WordPress maintenance solve?

WordPress needs attention. You skip updates — and the site breaks. You make backups “when you remember” — and when the hosting goes down, you have nothing to restore. Plugins stop working after a core update. Attackers catch you on an outdated version. It is a recurring scenario for companies that do not have a permanent technical caretaker.

Technical maintenance is insurance: someone does all of this for you — tests updates on a working environment, monitors availability, keeps an eye on backups, responds to incidents and makes small changes. You sleep soundly, and the site keeps running.

What do you gain from technical maintenance?

Six concrete benefits for a company that uses ongoing WordPress maintenance — from stability and security to peace of mind for the owner and fewer scattered costs.

01

Stability and fewer failures

Regular updates, 24/7 monitoring and testing changes on a working environment reduce the number of unexpected failures. The response begins before the customer notices the problem.

02

Site and data security

Daily off-site backups, SSL updates, intrusion monitoring and security hardening (Wordfence / iThemes) protect the site against data loss, attacks and unauthorised access.

03

Protecting your sales

For a WooCommerce store every hour of downtime is a real loss. With maintenance the store has backups, cart monitoring, payment-gateway checks and a fast response to order errors.

04

Peace of mind for the owner

You do not remember about updates, you do not check every day whether the site works, you do not look for a specialist after hours. Someone does it for you and reports back.

05

A faster response to problems

An SLA written into the agreement. You know how quickly we will respond to a report and when we will start the fix. No “we’ll get back to you when we have time”.

06

Fewer scattered costs

An hours bank for small changes included in the package. Instead of paying separately for each edit, you have a predictable monthly budget and a single contractor.

What exactly do we do as part of maintenance?

Eight groups of recurring actions — from updates and backups, through monitoring, security and care for the WooCommerce store, to the monthly report.

01

WordPress and WooCommerce updates

  • WordPress core updates (tested before deployment)
  • plugin updates (with compatibility checks)
  • theme updates (premium / custom)
  • WooCommerce updates (HPOS, payment compatibility)
  • PHP updates on the environment side
  • testing on staging before production

Benefit: The site stays up to date, but the updates do not break it, because they are checked beforehand on a copy.

02

Backups and restoring

  • daily automatic off-site backups
  • full backup (files + database)
  • backup retention (usually 30 days)
  • fast restore of a chosen backup
  • a restore test once a month
  • a backup before every major update

Benefit: Even if the hosting, database or site goes down — you have an up-to-date copy ready to restore within tens of minutes.

03

Monitoring and alerts

  • 24/7 availability monitoring (UptimeRobot or our own)
  • an SMS/email alert when the site goes down
  • SSL monitoring (expiry date)
  • response-time and 5xx-error monitoring
  • contact-form checks
  • checking the order path (WooCommerce)

Benefit: We know about a problem sooner than the customer does. Often we fix it before anyone notices.

04

Security and hardening

  • an application firewall (Wordfence / iThemes Security)
  • hardening the wp-admin panel
  • protection against brute-force and bot attacks
  • two-step login (optional)
  • control of file and database permissions
  • removing unused plugins and themes

Benefit: The site becomes a harder target for automated attacks. We reduce both the risk of a break-in and its consequences.

05

Small changes and the hours bank

  • editing content and headings
  • adding photos and banners
  • adding blog posts (publishing ready content)
  • adding products and categories in WooCommerce
  • fixes in sections, forms and CTAs
  • a monthly hours bank

Benefit: You do not wait for a specialist or hunt for a freelancer — small changes are handled within the package.

06

Incident response and SLA

  • contact with your account manager (email / phone / messenger)
  • a response SLA (24h / 4h depending on the package)
  • priority handling of incidents
  • restarting the site, a backup or hosting if needed
  • root-cause analysis of the failure (post-mortem)

Benefit: You know exactly how quickly we will respond and how fast we start acting when the site is down.

07

WooCommerce: store maintenance

  • monitoring the order process (critical for sales)
  • checking payment integrations (BLIK, P24, Tpay, Stripe)
  • checking shipping integrations (InPost, courier)
  • updates to BaseLinker and store plugins
  • checking the Merchant Center feed
  • monitoring conversions and GA4 events

Benefit: The store does not just “work” — the cart, payment, invoice and shipping work too. In other words, real sales are protected.

08

Monthly report and transparency

  • a list of the updates carried out
  • the number of backups and the restore test
  • monitoring incidents
  • use of the hours bank
  • 404 errors detected and indexing issues
  • recommendations for the coming month

Benefit: Every month you know exactly what was done and what you are paying for. No “vague” subscriptions.

What does “24h response SLA around the clock” mean?

A 24h response SLA around the clock means we commit to taking the first remedial steps (e.g. diagnosis or a call back) within a maximum of 24 hours of a report, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day — regardless of whether the report came in on a business day, at the weekend or on a public holiday.

What is NOT included in technical maintenance?

It is important that the maintenance package is not a “bottomless pit”. The elements below are always quoted separately — so it is fair and clear what to expect in the subscription.

  • building new programming features
  • custom plugins and larger modules
  • large redesigns of sections and subpages
  • full PageSpeed / Core Web Vitals optimisation
  • SEO positioning (content + links)
  • Google Ads / Meta Ads campaigns
  • writing offer and blog content from scratch
  • migration to another host (a separate service)
  • full VPS server administration
  • integrations with new external systems

We can deliver all of the above, but as separate projects with an individual quote — not as part of the monthly maintenance.

Technical maintenance vs hosting — how do they differ?

Hosting provides server resources. Technical maintenance looks after the application itself (WordPress, WooCommerce) and how the site behaves. Most often the two services complement each other — they do not replace one another.

Element Technical maintenance Hosting
Goal Providing server resources
WordPress updates Usually not (or only WP core on “auto”)
Site backup Often once a day, without tests
Site monitoring Most often only server status
Small changes None (or separate support)
Incident response Only server failures, not the application

How starting the partnership works

Six stages — from auditing the current state, through configuring the tools and the maintenance plan, to recurring actions, the monthly report and incident response.

01

Audit of the current state

We check the current WP version, plugins, theme, backups, security and performance.

02

Environment configuration

We set up monitoring, automatic off-site backups, a firewall, alerts and staging.

03

Maintenance plan

We agree the update schedule, the scope of the hours bank, the SLA and the contact for your account manager.

04

Recurring maintenance

Tested updates, backups, monitoring and small changes on request.

05

Monthly report

A PDF with a list of the work carried out, incidents, hours used and recommendations.

06

Incident response

A response SLA in the event of a failure (24h / 4h depending on the package), restoring from a backup if needed.

What should you send so we can quote the maintenance?

You do not have to prepare technical documentation. It is enough to answer a few questions — we will check the current state of the site and suggest a package matched to its size and importance to the company.

Answer these questions

  1. What is the address of the current site?
  2. Is it a company website, a blog or a WooCommerce store?
  3. How many subpages / products does the site have?
  4. Does the site generate traffic from Google or campaigns?
  5. Do you use premium plugins (theme, forms, store)?
  6. Do you have integrations (BaseLinker, ERP, invoicing, couriers)?
  7. Has the site been updated recently / have there been any failures?
  8. Do you need small changes on a regular basis?
  9. Do you care about a response SLA outside business hours?
  10. Is anyone at the company currently managing the WordPress panel?
SEO & AI Overview

Maintenance also protects your SEO and visibility

Technical maintenance does not replace positioning, but it keeps the technical foundation of SEO in place. A site that does not work, has no SSL, generates 404 errors, loses its structured data after an SEO plugin update or falls into noindex after staging — loses traffic from Google, even if the content is good.

For AI Overview and AI models, what matters most is the site’s stability and predictability. If the site is available, has consistent headings, structured data and service descriptions, AI finds it easier to analyse and cites it more often. Maintenance makes sure these elements do not disappear through an accidental update.

We do not guarantee specific rankings or a presence in AI Overview. We do, however, make sure the site does not lose them due to technical neglect — it is the cheapest way to protect the results of years of SEO work.

Technical SEO in maintenance

  • availability (uptime) monitoring — a ranking foundation
  • renewing and checking the SSL certificate
  • checking 404 errors and redirects
  • checking indexing in Search Console
  • updating the XML sitemap
  • checking robots.txt after SEO plugin updates
  • monitoring speed and Core Web Vitals
  • updating SEO plugins (Yoast / RankMath)
  • checking structured data after updates
  • responding to Search Console alerts (indexing issues)

AI Overview and stability

  • the site is available and indexable 24/7
  • meta data and headings do not disappear through an accidental update
  • FAQ sections and service descriptions keep their unchanged structure
  • structured data stays consistent and up to date
  • 404 errors do not block key subpages
  • site speed stays at an acceptable level
  • the WooCommerce store still shows price, availability and shipping

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions that come up most often when deciding on ongoing maintenance for a WordPress site or WooCommerce store.

What exactly does “small changes” include?
Editing content, adding photos, adding blog posts, fixes within existing sections, adding products. It does NOT include new programming features (those are quoted separately).
What if the site goes down at night?
With monitoring you get an alert. In the Basic package we respond within 24h (business hours), Pro within 24h around the clock, Enterprise within 4h. We restart or restore from a backup.
Can I cancel after a month?
Yes — 14 days’ notice, no penalties. After cancelling you still have access to the site’s admin panel (it stays yours).
What about hosting — do you manage it?
No — hosting is a separate service. We have access to the hosting panel (FTP, database), but we do not manage it. If you need full server management, see VPS configuration.
Do you also update paid plugins?
Yes — in the Pro and Enterprise packages. This requires valid premium licences (purchased by you). We update and test compatibility.
What if an update breaks the site?
We test first on a staging (test) environment. If something breaks — we roll back to the backup from before the update. Zero downtime for the site’s users.
Does maintenance include speed optimisation?
Minor speed fixes can be part of the maintenance, but larger PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals optimisation, caching, images, database and server work should be a separate task or part of an extended package.
Does maintenance include new features?
Not within the standard scope. New features, integrations, custom plugins, extending forms, configurators or larger programming changes are quoted separately.
Does maintenance include SEO and positioning?
Maintenance keeps the technical foundation of SEO in place: availability, SSL, indexing, 404 errors, structured data. Active positioning (content, links, keyword optimisation) is a separate service — a monthly SEO package.
What do I get in the monthly report?
A PDF with a list of the updates carried out, the number of backups, monitoring events, work done from the hours bank, errors detected and recommendations for the coming month.
